Overview
An MBA challenges how you think and act in business. Employers want more from their managers than knowledge and strategic thinking – they also seek leadership skills, commitment and creativity. The Leeds MBA equips you to meet these challenges.
Ranked amongst the world’s best (The Economist Which MBA? 2019), this MBA programme integrates business and management theory with practice, but also emphasises your personal and professional development. You’ll study the foundations of business management, such as marketing, accounting, finance, operations and human resource management.
Importantly, you’ll also enhance key qualities expected of leaders including commercial awareness, interpersonal skills, a genuine understanding of the fundamental business functions and a critical and questioning outlook. You’ll gain an international perspective and build valuable connections, helping you become a global leader.
Our full-time MBA is a one-year intensive programme based on campus in Leeds. Drawing on the strengths of this vibrant city, you work closely with resident academics and MBA colleagues from across the globe to develop your skills through study, coaching and practical application of the latest academic theory.
Academic Excellence
You’ll benefit from the expertise and support of the Business School’s research centres, which are focused on addressing the major business challenges facing society. This active research feeds our learning environment, engaging you with the latest critical business thinking.
Accreditation
The Leeds MBA is accredited by the Association of MBAs.
Learning and teaching
We use a range of teaching methods including lectures, seminars, tutorials, online learning, computer simulations and more. Your interactions with other students are also a key element of your learning experience, and you could meet prominent external speakers and professionals through events such as our prestigious Corporate Wisdom Lecture Series. Independent study is also vital, allowing you to sharpen your research and critical skills.
Career opportunities
Whether you want to progress in your current role, move into senior management or change direction, the Leeds MBA is a decisive step in your career.
You are an individual with your own career aspirations and goals, so we take a person-centred approach. We encourage you to develop your self-awareness, understand your strengths and weaknesses, refine your career objectives and grow as an individual.
A good Bachelor degree (equivalent of a UK 2:1 hons degree), or an acceptable professional qualification. A GMAT score is not a mandatory requirement in most cases; however, if your degree qualification is below a 2:1 (hons) or overseas equivalent, or you don’t have a formal or professional qualification, you may be asked to complete a Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) with a minimum score of 600 (GMAT scores should be valid for the year of entry). These applications are considered at the discretion of the Programme Director.
