Film Studies - BA (Hons)

Bristol, UWE

there were recently some internal changes with UWE to the language and protocol when it comes to transgender students and bathrooms. it is very misguided, transphobic, and transmisogynist. they need to take all of that out ASAP.

The best thing about my uni experience is the supportive environment and inspiring tutors who genuinely care about helping students grow creatively. The facilities for filmmaking are also excellent, and the collaborative atmosphere makes it a great place to learn. The only downside is that the campus location is a bit remote, which can make commuting or accessing the city slightly inconvenient. Apart from that, it’s a wonderful place to study.

The tutors are wonderful, very helpful, understanding of the stresses and pressures put on students and willing to help them in whatever way they can. They're also excellent educators, making long lectures feel like a breeze with how engaging they make them feel. There's always something going on at UWE like drop-in sessions and giveaways being only two of the many different things going on each week. Also, there's always something to help students in need, who may not have enough money to easily buy things (food stalls, free meals, etc.) One thing that could be improved upon is the location. While there are a lot of places to buy things at UWE, if you live off campus it can be a long journey to get to the campus meaning that you lose out on time that could be spent doing uni work (especially reguarding assignment deadlines which usually fall on a week day meaning there is less time to easily catch up.) It also adds up in travel costs and makes it harder to get there on time if the bus is late and you have to travel far.

Best part is the study rooms. They’re very well equipped and calming. Worst part is perhaps travel? The buses are very hit or miss.
