Northumbria University, Newcastle

Being a student at Northumbria has been such a fantastic experience, and I believe it’s the best place for anyone considering university. The sense of community here is second to none, and there are endless opportunities to get involved in everything, whether through your course, extracurriculars, or the amazing city of Newcastle itself. One of the best parts about Northumbria is the Be Part of It scheme. There are so many fun, affordable activities to try out. I loved go-karting, kayaking and the pottery painting! It’s such a great way to unwind, meet new people, and get involved with the university community outside of your course. As a Film student, I’ve loved how much I’ve learned in terms of both analysing films critically and improving my writing skills. The course really pushes you to think creatively and analytically, which has been so rewarding. The tutors are super supportive, and I’ve learned so much that I can apply both inside and outside the classroom. The city of Newcastle itself is brilliant. It’s super student-friendly with lots to do and it has a lively nightlife scene that’s both fun and affordable. Newcastle is safe and welcoming, and you’ll always find something new to explore. When it comes to sports, Northumbria’s facilities are what pushed me to get a membership. The gym is modern, spacious, and comes with a sauna and pool for a really cheap price. I’ve also had a free personal training session, which was fantastic, super friendly and really knowledgeable. But what really sets Northumbria apart is the community. The university listens to feedback, and they make actual changes to improve my student experience. The Newcastle community is equally as friendly and welcoming, making it the perfect place to study, live and thrive. Overall, I’m so glad I chose Northumbria.

I love the student bar, community at the uni, societies, and the library. I think it would be better to have more pop ups during the year.

Northumbria University at Newcastle has great facilities for studying and resources to support my studies. The library has lots of places to learn and do my projects, as well as having access to loads of computers and editing software. For my career, it has fantastic access to camera and film equipment, which has helped quite a lot of my development in my career. The only thing I believe could be improved is the access to editing software computers, as it's limited per day. It would be good if we had more time to be in this area, or perhaps to add this software to the computers that are in the library, as this one is primarily open 24/7.
