The MEd Educational Studies is designed to help education professionals build on existing knowledge and skills to develop academically, personally and professionally and progress to positions of responsibility. With a focus on contemporary global developments and intercultural perspectives in education, students are encouraged to reflect on their own practice and make connections to international contexts, promoting a deeper understanding of the world and the impact they can have on it. By integrating an intercultural perspective into all aspects of their education, our students can be better equipped to navigate a rapidly changing world and make a positive impact in their communities.
The module aims to introduce participants to the principles, underpinning theories and core processes of educational research as a means of preparing novice or first time ?researchers? for either a work based project, dissertation or research study within their professional context. The module will focus on the theory and practice of research in educational settings and will give participants the opportunity to consider the practical application of the concepts and principles to which they will be introduced.
The dissertation module represents the final stage of a number of UWS validated MEd/MSc programmes: MEd. Inclusive Education; MEd. Leadership for Learning; MSc Mental Health and Education; MEd. Enhanced Educational Practice; MEd Education (with pathways, full-time); MEd Early Years; MEd TESOL, and MEd Education (with/without a named specialism, part-time).
This module serves as the core foundation module for the part-time Master in Education Education (with specialist pathways). It offers participants an opportunity to explore and develop a sound grounding and critical stance towards a number of topical issues in education when viewed in light of national and international policy and practice; specifically, leadership, inclusion, mental health and education, creativity and curriculum enhancement. This module will also introduce and support participants in developing key academic skills that will underpin their studies throughout their learning journey on the programme.
