Computer Science - BSc (Hons)

Northumbria University, Newcastle

Not ever having enough time, wish longer semesters. Teachers are brilliant, support is there as long as you make the effort to ask and look for it.

Best are the staff, truly supportive and helpful. Worst is freshers week, id moved in a week early and focused on my contract start instead of my uni start so really struggled and felt support less. Just a big lack of information.

One of the best parts of my university experience has been the people. I have had lecturers who are not only knowledgeable but who truly care about how students are doing. They are open to questions and always willing to explain things clearly. That support has helped me build confidence in myself and in my abilities. I have also enjoyed meeting classmates from different backgrounds. It has been interesting to learn from their experiences and see different points of view. What makes it a great place to study is the sense of balance. You are encouraged to be independent and take responsibility for your work, but help is there when you need it. There are also activities and events outside of class that make student life more enjoyable and help you feel part of a community. There are still areas that could be better. Communication from the administration can sometimes be unclear or delayed, which can be frustrating. I also think there could be more opportunities that focus on preparing students for work after graduation.Overall, my experience has been positive. University has challenged me, helped me grow as a person, and given me skills that will stay with me in the future.

Northumbria University is a great place to study, with modern facilities and supportive lecturers. The courses are well structured and career-focused, helping students gain practical skills. The campus has a friendly atmosphere and good student support overall.

Northumbria University has many different opportunities for students to grow. For instance, there are many computing related societies for students to explore the many fields and specialisations of Computer Science. Northumbria University also has support teams for students who would like to increase their employability. There are specific portals and information sites on how to write resumes and cover letters, not to mention that students can make appointments with trained professionals for mock interviews for a job.
