Aimed at healthcare practitioners, this course is a component of the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) clinical academics training pathway and will equip you with the skills and knowledge to engage in all aspects of clinical, healthcare or academic research.

This course is ideal if you are working in a clinical research environment, but don’t hold a healthcare qualification, or as preparation for clinical academic doctoral fellowship applications.

At Southampton we have a strong global reputation for research excellence, (REF 2021.) the latest facilities, and leading academics to support you.

Early career healthcare professionals can now apply for the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) South Central INSIGHT Programme (SCIP). The NIHR SCIP funding pays your tuition fees, and you'll receive a stipend (living allowance) of up to £19,237 tax-free.
