In my opinion, a huge benefit of studying at Cardiff University's is the vibrant and diverse student population and opportunity to have a fulfilling student life. The student population in Cardiff is huge. There are so many things to do, whether they are organised by societies and the student union, visiting the shopping centre, walking around the scenic Bute park or exploring new cafes. There really is something for everyone. My university building is in a prime location- a walkable distance from the city centre and my student accommodation. These factors really help to keep me productive and minimise travel time in my day-to-day life. It also means that I am not spending money on public transport which is a bonus. There is a range of student accommodation types for everyone depending on your budget and living preferences. Generally, accommodation is very affordable in Cardiff compared to other cities. I would suggest looking into the different options in detail before applying, as it can have a drastic difference on your experience. Some locations are further away from the uni and the city centre. There is extra support available such as help with careers, employability and study skills provided by the centre for student life. I would say that you do have to be quite proactive in making use of this though, as it isn't spoon fed. One thing that surprised me was the urgency and pressure to find a house for second year. I sometimes wish there was more help and guidance provided by the university to help me prepare for this. I also appreciate the mentor scheme that allows you to connect with an older student and seek advice on both academic situations, but also things like social life and housing.

Honestly really great. Theres lots of societies and extra curriculars on offer. The city itself is very affordable. However, the pricing of societies are a bit much. Some of the facilities are a bit outdated, however you can tell there is constant improvement being done. Great place to study with lots of librarys and cafes about.

I love that the university is a city uni as opposed to a campus, as many of the facilities can be better designed to each course. The main building is beautiful, and very well supplied for my course. The student union is incredible too, hosting many events. They are always happy to support the societies, which is really important for student life at Cardiff. The city itself is equally beautiful, and small enough to travel by foot. The train station is very well connected also. A perfect place to study!

The students and staff alike are very welcoming and helpful. Student support is good but takes a while to get round to as there is not that many staff available to help. I have heard that for therapy through the uni there is a very long waiting list, so maybe more staff for that could be helpful. There are not that many sober socials in any society which may be isolating.

Cardiff is a beautiful city and the campus building are amazing pieces of architecture that give the campus a distinct look and feel. The course specific support from staff could be improved when it comes to introducing new skills and new assignment/assessment styles. The course specific organisation is lacking and can be unhelpful for anxious students. The course itself is interesting and informative.

Hard to find suport wasn't always sure where to look and felt intimidating sometimes. The student study areas and librarys are excellent.
