Artificial Intelligence and Data Science [with Foundation year] - BSc (Hons)

Anglia Ruskin University

One of the most positive aspects of my experience at ARU has been the supportive and approachable teaching staff. Lecturers are genuinely invested in students’ success and always willing to offer guidance, whether it’s about coursework, career advice, or personal development. The diverse and inclusive environment has also been a highlight — it has allowed me to meet people from different cultures and backgrounds, enriching both my academic and personal life. Additionally, the university’s modern facilities and access to online learning resources have greatly enhanced my study experience. The emphasis on practical learning, group projects, and employability-focused modules helped me develop skills that feel directly relevant to my future career. While my overall experience has been positive, one area that could be improved is the consistency of administrative communication, especially regarding course updates and fee-related information. Occasionally, it took longer than expected to receive responses from certain departments, which caused some confusion or delays. Another minor challenge was balancing coursework deadlines when multiple assignments were due close together. Better scheduling or clearer early-term guidance could help students plan more effectively. Overall Reflection: Despite these challenges, my time at ARU has been highly rewarding. The university provides a strong academic foundation, a welcoming community, and numerous opportunities for growth. I am grateful for the experiences and skills I have gained here, which have prepared me well for the next stage of my journey.

The lecturers were genuinely supportive and approachable. They made complex topics easier to understand and always encouraged curiosity and independent thinking. I also appreciated how relevant and up-to-date the course was, with modules that reflected the latest developments in data science and artificial intelligence. The facilities on the Cambridge campus were excellent, and the learning environment was welcoming, inclusive, and inspiring. It was easy to get help when needed, and there were plenty of opportunities to connect with other students and take part in events. Overall, studying at ARU in Cambridge was an amazing experience that gave me strong technical skills, confidence, and lasting memories.

The university offers a vibrant and supportive community where students are encouraged to explore their passions and develop new skills. The lecturers are approachable and passionate, making learning engaging and accessible. The campus facilities are excellent, with modern libraries, study spaces, and technology that enhance the learning experience. There are also numerous clubs, societies, and events that foster a strong sense of belonging and help students build lifelong friendships and networks. Overall, the university creates an inspiring environment that motivates students to excel academically and personally.

It is close to my home and it is nice and compact, offering a great course (of which I have chosen to do of course). It could have more societies based on the idea of meeting other people.

Teachers are more invested in the students and the university is big on mental health support which I appreciate, would be better if there was more accommodation support as the stress of finding accommodation in my second year caused me endless anxiety and residential wasn’t helpful and I was told to just deal with it. The campus toilets get really messy though but they have done a good job making sure they are kept tidy, it would also be nice if more support was for independent study - the library doesn’t have toilets which is frustrating but I understand.
