Gain the financial expertise to help organisations power their business growth. Develop the essential accounting and finance skills and knowledge required to open the doors to careers in accountancy, finance or management in a variety of global industries. Our Accounting and Finance BSc can open doors to high-level careers in accountancy, banking, insurance, corporate enterprises and more. You will gain an appreciation of how modern businesses operate and procure skills in areas including financial and management accounting to appreciate the true value an accountant can bring to a business. Choosing to study areas such as Taxation and Audit will allow you to specialise, whilst emerging fields such as FinTech, Green Finance and exposure to industry standard software will make you a highly employable individual.
You can tailor your studies to match your career aspirations by choosing either the Professional or General Pathway in this programme.
Accounting Professional Pathway: Designed to meet the requirements for maximizing exam exemptions from professional accounting bodies, allowing you to fast-track your accounting career.
Finance Professional Pathway: Ideal if you are interested in the broader role of accounting and finance within business and wish to develop versatile skills applicable to a range of business contexts.
Practical, career-focused teaching and learning ensures that you can apply the theory youre learning to real-world scenarios that will build your expertise and confidence. We will also get you thinking about sustainability and business ethics so when you begin work or start your own business you can be a force for good in the world.
Work placement year
In an increasingly competitive job market, employers are seeking to recruit individuals who have high-level knowledge, skills and an understanding of the workplace. Choosing a work placement year between your second and third year is a fantastic way to gain industry experience. It can provide a valuable insight into what working in a specific area of business is like, gives you the chance to familiarise yourself with the professional working environment and develop professional contacts, and provides the opportunity to apply the theory youve learnt on your degree course.
Our Foundation Year provides an excellent alternative route to Keele, providing a unique opportunity to better prepare for your chosen degree, and with guaranteed entry onto your undergraduate course once you successfully complete your Foundation Year.
This extra year of study can improve your academic skills, expand your subject knowledge, give you a better understanding of higher education and, perhaps most importantly of all, build your confidence.
