Id say the best thing about Reading is the quiet and country feel to it’s campus but being so close to the bustling town of Reading and only 30 mins from London by train so you can have the best of country and city living. The lecturers certainly in the built environment faculty are extremely knowledgeable and make studying as fun as possible, the faculties reputation is country leading and therefore our prospects when we graduate are fabulous! I think reading uni could be improved by having a couple more popular fast food outlets and I think some of the halls could do with some better sound proofing Overall though so far I am enjoying my time at Reading and would recommend the university

The best aspects of our course is the industry leading knowledge of our lecturers. The fabulous prospects after graduation. Also the variety of learning from lectures, seminars, tutorials and plenty of practicals. All teaching is in person with the odd exception now and again. Teaching facilities are great too with the vis lab and top notch pc rooms and ofc plenty of classrooms. The only downside to the course is the speed some lecturers present at however as time goes on this becomes more manageable and lecturers are always happy to help Therefore overall I thoroughly recommend my course

Best thing about Wessex is it’s value for money and the fact that it’s still on campus and close to lecture buildings and also close to bus routes The big downside is the sound proofing is rubbish, and the room always has condensation on the windows when you wake up, the radiator is also very unpredictable. Overall I’d say Wessex is get what you pay for and if you want value for money it’s okay but if you want a peace and reliable living space then I would look elsewhere

The University of Reading provides a commendable range of facilities to provide support for students; academically, socially and for general wellbeing. Upon joining and enrolling in the lifestyle I have been thoroughly impressed by the variety of buildings that diversely accommodates the needs of all students. There has been little to diminish my impressions from the university through lack of facilities or social culture, furthermore continuing to the outreach and teaching support of staff members.

Learning is predominantly class based. Although my course seems to have far longer in and out of lecture learning hours in comparison to flatmates, I understand this is a technical and intensive course, which will yield great results and opportunities once finished. Lecturers are almost always on hand via email or meeting in person to aid with any content queries, whilst also providing feedback for coursework in great detail, which can only elevate learning and skills for future essays. A computer lab has easy hours to attend for online AutoCAD software access, and a materials lab is convened during practical assessments. Fieldwork tasks are also adequately stocked with modern equipment.

Wessex Hall has been recently refurbished, resulting in an accommodation cost that is very fair. Shared bathrooms and kitchens are cleaned at times through the week, remaining at a respectable standard. Internet has been a problem for most, with frequent disruptions and connectivity issues, I myself have not even been able to to connect to the WiFi even with leaflet instructions which have not resolved the issue, thus have used mobile data for convenience. Home at Halls maintenance has a speedy turn around time in resolving issues, however often fail to provide a permanent fix, as components are usually faulty straight after repair, or not repaired adequately initially. In summary however, Wessex Hall is fair to say to be the greatest value for money at Reading University, with a good location in the green part of campus, near facilities such as shops, high streets, bus stops and postal collections.
