Sussex is a great place to live and study; it's the only UK university situated within a national park, so there's lots of greenery. However, it's also only a short bus or train journey away from Brighton city centre. The on-site accomodation is modern and guaranteed for all first year students who apply during the main admissions cycle. The Students Union is very active, there's over 300 clubs and societies to join. I've had a very positive experience with teaching at Sussex, lecturers are generally approachable and helpful. Overall, I would recommend it to anyone!

My course is taught entirely face-to-face, and I really appreciate having the contact hours. Lecturers are generally very approachable and supportive, and encourage you to make use of their office hours. There's a good balance of content between qualitative and quantitative research methods in the first term, so it provides a broad introduction to SRM, and then in the second term you can tailor your modules to suit your interests.

The University of Sussex is renowned for its vibrant academic community, fostering critical thinking and interdisciplinary collaboration. Its picturesque campus offers a conducive learning environment. Distinguished faculty members contribute to a rich educational experience, while diverse student initiatives promote inclusivity. To improve, enhancing support systems for international students and refining career services could be beneficial. Additionally, addressing infrastructure updates and implementing innovative teaching methodologies would further elevate the overall learning atmosphere at Sussex.

In criminology and criminal justice, the allure lies in unraveling the complexities of crime, understanding societal dynamics, and contributing to a safer world. Engaging courses often blend theory with real-world applications, fostering critical analysis. Accessible lecturers and collaborative learning environments enhance comprehension. However, challenges arise from the sensitive nature of the subject, potentially impacting emotional well-being. The workload is demanding, particularly in research-intensive programs. Striking a balance between theory and practical skills, along with providing adequate mental health support, would further optimize the learning experience in criminology and criminal justice programs.
