The social aspect is great and there is good learning mental wellbeing support. It's great to study here because if you need help with anything the support is great!

I really like my course as there is a lot of support that is given and the lecture content is always very interesting.

The most encouraging aspect of studying at Portsmouth is the student support that all tutors across the board provide, this may even be teachers outside of your course that are eager to help you as much as they can. It helps to strengthen teacher-student relationships which is so important if you are feeling lost in your studies! In addition to your seminar tutors, who are qualified in their field, you are assigned a personal tutor who is your first port of call. You will really begin to develop a personal relationship with this person, and you typically meet with them once a fortnight. One thing that I would suggest improvement for at the University of Portsmouth, would be the campus look and feel. Whilst some of the buildings are not very pretty, this is just a material factor and it really doesn't impact your studies, you learn to ignore it!

As I take Law with Legal Practice, the best part of my course is the level of employability and support towards developing your future career prospects. It is a new course specifically tailored towards 'planning your professional journey', which is a module that I am taking in my first year. It makes me feel more confident for my post-graduate career as I am given guidance on how to gain the best experience to properly equip me after my degree. The course content is exactly the same as if you were taking regular law, except for the one module I have just discussed. Typically, all of my lectures are in person, which I personally prefer, because it provides a different level of engagement, and I can ask questions on the spot if I am unsure about anything. My least favourite aspect about the course would be the work load. it is very easy to get overwhelmed if you miss any lectures or if you are not caught up on notes. The content moves along very quickly, so you just need to allocate time for your studies.

I like that there is only five people in a flat, including myself. It makes cleaning more manageable and everything is far more quiet and spacious. My room is next to both the kitchen and the door to the flat, and I have no issues with noise, although this may be because my flatmates are very considerate! My favourite thing about my room would be the bed. You have small doubles in Catherine House, and my bed here is arguably more comfortable than my bed at home. In addition to this, you are provided with plenty of storage space, so my things are all tucked away rather then having to leave them out due to a lack of space. In the kitchen, there is a T.V, a table, and two sofas that you have when you move in, I spend a lot of time in my kitchen studying, so it is nice to have the T.V on in the background for a homely feel. My least favourite thing about Catherine would be the way it is managed. I live on the 10th floor, so it was heavily at my expense when the lift broke and was not fixed for almost a week. To get into the building, you need to tap in with key fob, I thought this was an excellent element of security, until I found out that sometimes the doors open automatically, and anyone can get it.
