I think Cardiff is a great place to live and the student union is a great night out and a great place to study. One aspect the university support system which needs improving is the advice given in the first 2 weeks when you are allowed to switch courses. I looked for support with this last year and wasn't provided any.

I think the lectures are structured well because we don't have any online lectures which I wouldn't want.

There are so many opportunities to meet people, to get involved in societies but also access support. The sports and study facilities are kept in good condition and are accessible at most times of the day.

There are high amount of contact hours and tutors reach back when you contact them very quickly. It is easy to access support from tutors when struggling with content and the library services are quick to help as well. There is opportunity to collaborate with others on your course in group projects (which may be either an advantage or disadvantage depending on people grouped with) but in the instance where group projects don't go perfectly lecturers are typically understanding and give leniency. Course content leans towards heavy structures focus which is not completely useful during placement unless you are working for a structures specializing team. There is also limited opportunity to use CAD in the first two years which is an important software to use in industry.

Definitely value for money you get a basic room and a shared bathroom. The location is by far the best part as its situated in between the city center and the walk to the students union alongside other library facilities. There is also a greater opportunity to socialize with other flats as a result of it being a smaller site than other accommodations. Would highly recommend to anyone doing engineering as its a short walk to the building.
