The grounds and gardens are beautiful but I think there could be more support in place for students.

The accommodation can be very expensive and it’s not catered either, the views are nice and the amenities are decent

Exeter can be quite expensive compared to other UK cities, especially in terms of accommodation. Exeter’s nightlife is more subdued compared to larger cities like Manchester or Birmingham. While there are pubs, bars, and a few clubs, some students feel the options are limited.

The Data Science program at the University of Exeter has some notable strengths and a few challenges. The program blends mathematics, computer science, and applied data science, providing a strong foundation in machine learning, AI, and statistical modelling. Many students appreciate the accessible IT and library facilities, with 90% reporting that subject-specific resources like software and datasets are readily available when needed. The course requires mastering a wide range of technical skills, including programming, statistical modeling, and ethical considerations in data science. While the option to pursue an industrial placement year is available, accessing and securing placements can be competitive.

Most halls are located within walking distance of classes, libraries, and the city center, making them very convenient for daily life. University-managed halls provide numerous opportunities for socialising through shared kitchens, common areas, and events organised by the Resident Life team, such as baking sessions and movie nights​. Some halls, such as Holland Hall, are known for being significantly more expensive, which has led to perceptions of class differences between residents of different halls. In some less expensive halls, like Lafrowda, students report noise and overcrowded facilities during busy times.
