Studying Software Engineering at the University of Plymouth has been a solid experience overall. The best part for me is 100% the teaching style and support. Most lecturers actually care and break things down in a way that makes sense, especially in the more technical modules. The practical work has been super useful for building full apps, working on group projects, and using real-world tools has made me feel like I’m actually preparing for industry, not just learning theory. Campus vibes are good as well. The library is clutch during deadline season, and the labs are always open so you can get work done whenever you want. The Students’ Union is active too, and there’s always something happening, which makes meeting people easier. For the downsides, sometimes communication can be a bit slow, especially around timetable changes or assignment clarifications. And some modules feel like they could use better organisation or updated content. But honestly nothing deal-breaking, just stuff that could be improved to make things smoother. Overall though, it’s been a great place to study and I’m actually enjoying the course way more than I expected.

Also, the workload spikes randomly but some weeks are chill, then suddenly everything is due at once. But that’s just uni life at this point. Overall, the course teaches well, the lecturers care, and the content is relevant to real-world software development. Honestly, no major complaints but just a few things that could be smoother.

The halls were actually a good experience overall. The best thing for me was how close everything was — campus, shops, and the city centre were all basically walking distance, so it made first year way less stressful. The rooms were a decent size, the kitchens were clean enough, and maintenance usually sorted stuff out pretty quickly whenever something broke. The social side was good too. You meet people fast, and it actually feels like proper uni life when everyone’s just down the corridor. Security was solid as well, so you always felt safe coming back late. For the downsides, the rent is definitely on the pricey side for what you get. Some facilities feel a bit old, and the communal areas can get messy depending on who you’re living with. Noise can be a problem on some nights too, especially during freshers and weekends. But overall, the halls did the job. It was convenient, social, and a good start for first year but just a few things that could be improved.

Really pleased. I have gained a lot of knoweldge from my course. Facilities here are good, but login speeds need improvement. Union does a good job.
