the overall community and people there are lovely and welcoming, we have access to many resources that make it a very good place to study

Very good equipment and actual course content is very high quality. the lecturers range in quality however with some being very good and professional and some not recoriding videos

No

The people are lovely and it's right in the city centre so there's a lot of nearby shops for anything you could need. However, I think social opportunities are lacking compared to other universities, societies aren't really promoted here and I don't hear about many organised social events.

The content of my course has been really fascinating so far and the teaching staff are really good at what they do. Unfortunately it has been difficult to access the facilities I need, as there is only one classroom that has the software I need for one of my modules. Since there aren't many students that need this, it's understandable. However, there is no timetable displaying when the room is expected to be in use so it can be difficult to make plans, as you won't know whether you can work in there until you're already there having a look in. The building this room is in is also only open from 8am-9pm and closes at 5pm on weekends so late night sessions aren't possible unlike a lot of other places on campus.

I really enjoyed staying here. Unfortunately it is quite far from campus so it's either a lengthy walk or you can pay to get the metro everyday which adds up quickly. If you ignore distance from campus though, the location is really nice and convenient. It is located right on top of big Tesco and it's like a two minute walk to Greggs, Burger King, Poundland and even the Vue cinema. It's quite expensive compared to the other student halls but you get an en-suite and there are washing and drying machines in the flat instead of having to pay separately for laundry. They also have their own gym, cinema room, ping pong table, pool table, and common areas with lot's of space to socialise or study. I would say it definitely has the best facilities out of all of the student halls here, and while you're paying more for rent there, I would say it's the cheapest for shopping by far. Since it's far from campus the prices are reasonable and it's the only option that's located close to a large supermarket, the other accoms only really have small convenience stores and the prices are marked up since they're close to the city centre and university campus. The staff there were really helpful too and they did a lot of fire equipment checks and you would often see security walking around at night to make sure that we were all safe. They also kept up with maintenance requests very well in my experience, but I've heard they were pretty bad when it came to the studios, and the app you use to submit these doesn't work sometimes and was difficult to first set up. Also, the lifts were broken a lot, the one in my building was broken for two months at one point and the ones at the main entrances were very prone to breaking too but luckily these were fixed fairly fast. Lastly, when it comes to room allocation I would say they're amazing. You get to see which rooms from which flats are already booked, and select which one you want. This means you can easily book with your friends, choose what floor you want or how close you want to be to the kitchen. There is also a short personality quiz you can do while booking and you can see the answers of the people that have already booked so you can choose a flat that has people you think you'll get on with. It asks whether you want a social space in the flat or a quiet one, what course you're doing, and to pick 3 interests (e.g. video games, gym, dancing, etc.). This was something I really loved and I think it's s o helpful.
