Very slow internal processes and Comms between departments. Affects all areas of Comms with students (council, SLA, societies)

My course is BA Games Design. It is unlisted in this form. The course and those running it are incredible. I don't have any criticisms.

One of the best parts of my university experience has been the supportive and diverse community. As an international student studying 3D Animation for Games and Film, I’ve felt encouraged to be creative and experiment with my ideas. The course is very hands-on, which has helped me build a strong portfolio and gain practical skills that feel relevant to the industry. The lecturers are approachable and knowledgeable, and many genuinely care about students’ growth and progress. The library and facilities are also great, especially during deadline season, as there are plenty of spaces to work and access resources. Areas for improvement: One area that could be improved is access to facilities during busy periods. Having the library open 24/7, especially during exam and deadline seasons, would be extremely beneficial for students who work better late at night. Additionally, having more affordable and varied food options on or near campus would greatly improve student life, particularly for those spending long hours studying. These changes would make the overall university experience more convenient and supportive.

Best aspects: The best part of my course is how hands-on and practical it is. Teaching is mainly delivered through in-class sessions and workshops, which allows us to learn industry-standard software and techniques while actively creating work. The balance between theory and practice helps develop both technical skills and creative thinking. Lecturers are approachable and supportive, and there is regular contact time where feedback is given on our work, which has been really helpful for improving my portfolio and understanding industry expectations. Areas for improvement: At times, the course can feel very intensive, particularly around deadlines, as multiple projects may overlap. While support from lecturers is available, having more evenly spaced deadlines or additional structured guidance during peak periods could help reduce pressure. Occasionally, more contact hours or extended workshop time would be beneficial, especially when working on complex software or final projects.

Like most: What I like most about Platt Halls is the convenience and sense of community. Living close to campus makes attending classes and using facilities really easy, especially during busy weeks. The rooms are generally comfortable and provide everything you need as a student, and having bills included makes budgeting much simpler. It’s also a great way to meet people from different backgrounds, which really adds to the overall university experience. Like least / areas for improvement: One downside is that halls can feel quite expensive for the space provided, especially compared to private accommodation. Kitchen and communal areas can also become crowded or messy at times, depending on who you live with. However, the maintenance and weekly kitchen cleaner truly help the hygiene of shared spaces, which I appreciate as a student.
