The campus is lovely and green with everything you need on it and the bus is useful for getting around, particularly as it’s free on campus. There are a wide variety of societies and sports to be involved in at different skill levels so beginners can play and learn the sport too. The My Lifestyle sports are good and have relaxed sessions to book onto for free with friends to go do some exercise. There’s always things going on in the Union but mostly clubbing events so if you’re not into this, it’s a good idea to join a society to meet new people.

The Graphic Design department has lots of space and feels light, open and a good place to work. Lecturers have a variety of specialisms so this is helpful for getting different opinions. It’s disappointing though for such a good uni we don’t get our own Adobe licenses as part of tuition fees. We have around two lectures a week and around 10 hours of studio time at the moment, the tutors all have open hours too so you can go and get extra support and feedback on your work. There’s a lot of independent study but this is manageable.

The website was a bit misleading with regards to the amount I share a bathroom and kitchen with but it’s working out okay so far (7 sharing one toilet, shower and kitchen). The facilities feel quite old and temperamental, particularly in the kitchen, but reception is efficient at sorting out issues quickly. The actual security of the building is quite old fashioned compared to the more secure, newer blocks too. Overall it’s good for how cheap it is and sinks in rooms is also really nice.

I wasn't sure about my decision to go to university at first but by Christmas I was already certain I'd made the best decision for me. The facilities and staff here are great and I find my course interesting and fun. Loughborough town centre is small but has all the necessities and it is all in walking distance. Going to Leicester and Nottingham is easy via the train so it doest matter too much that it's not a big place here. The campus shuttle buses are free and very regular, making travelling around campus easy. The union here is great, and there are a few other options in town but the best spots for nightlife are Nottingham and Leicester and sharing an uber home isn't that expensive if you're sharing with friends. I've made great friends here and I'm glad I chose Loughborough.

The contact hours are pretty low but also very useful as you'll get direct advice and help from your lecturers when you have your weekly studio session. it can be stressful when it comes to handing in all your coursework but if you manage your time effectively it can be easy and is a lot less stressful than taking exams. The lecturers and tutors are all very friendly and helpful.

Bill Mo is the closest you can get to the union (literally just cross the road) which is also the entrance to campus which is really helpful. It is also one of the closest halls to town as it is technically off campus, which makes doing the shopping easier. If you do art subjects you'll most likely have your lectures and studios next to Loughborough College, which is a 7-10 min walk from the halls. It's a budget friendly accommodation that all have small double beds. The flats with no en-suites are still great, the bathroom and shower situation was never an issue the whole year, sharing really isn't as bad as you think because most people are decent human beings and aren't going to make a mess. The lack of a lounge area was a bit annoying but it actually meant that we spent a lot of time in each others rooms and the kitchen which I think ultimately brought us closer as friends.
