The campus is beautiful - modern facilities dotted across Kent countryside and woodlands. I love watching the campus bunnies and squirrels skipping across the footpath as I walk from the car park to my lab. It's in a great location, not in the centre of the town but reachable via the unibuses that come onto campus every few minutes. I love that it's a semi-rural campus and that unlike other campuses, every building is on the same site. You often don't get that with urban based campuses. And of course, the view of Canterbury cathedral from just about anywhere on campus is stunning. There is so much to do (not that I get a lot of time to take part as a part time student with children!) and so many clubs, societies and interest groups to join. There is literally something for everyone. The student union do a great job of managing course reps (so students voices are heard) and providing various facilities around campus such as cafes, shops, nightclub, etc. I've loved every minute of studying here and don't want to leave! Hopefully someone will offer me a job here once I've finished my studies...

My supervisor arranges to see me every week for a formal meeting. We discuss progress, agree on next steps and problem solve. She is also available for me to pop by her office at other times to discuss issues that pop up outside of our weekly meeting. She takes a proactive approach to my learning and guides me effectively. The course content isn't really applicable to a PhD as it isn't a taught degree. Everything I do is based on my research project but I have found the skills training provided by the Graduate and Researcher College really helpful. I've also found the staff in the IT/library dept super helpful too. I use a state of the art analytical instrument that cost the dept around £250,000.00 so I can't complain about the facilities! I also have use of an advanced statistical package to carry out chemometric analysis of my data, which greatly adds to the quality of my work and hopefully means it can be published soon!

I really enjoy working in the labrotary and working with a range of chemicals. In addition to this the library is very large and convient as it is in the centre of campus.

lecturers are engaging and helpful, many hours are spent in the laboratory hence helping to have a better understanding of the module. Lecturers are easy to contact and reply swiftly.

very expensive for a single bedroom, however being able to have an ensuite was convenient. Small kitchen since catered for however a mini fridge shared between 14 people was difficult.
