Great staff and University but the city itself lacks student life

In person with interesting lecturers and labs. Great facilities but sometimes the quality is sub-par, overall amazing

In the village so a bit far but the bus makes it easy and the village is an amazing place with amazing rooms and activities

For me, the best part about studying at the University of Leicester has been the opportunities I’ve had to take part in group projects. In 2nd year I was part of a design group where we designed and built a mars rover, and this year I joined the Formula Student team at the university! However, I think an area for improvement would be to spend more time learning hands on practical/manufacturing skills and techniques. I see real value to this, and it is an area of knowledge I am lacking in compared to some of my friends at other universities.

The blend of in-person and remote learning has been great, and I find a lot of the areas of teaching very interesting and engaging. There are always opportunities to get involved with extra-curricular activities too, including Formula Student. I would have liked to have had more talks held by industry professionals to talk about future career options.

Throughout my degree I have always lived quite far from city centre which has made it difficult to get to pub, bars, shops and restaurants. Public transport is available around the city, however it can be quite expensive. Leicester station is conveniently located near the university and offers great links to Nottingham, Birmingham and London. The university campus backs onto Victoria Park, a lovely green space to relax in on a sunny day.

Great value for money, I had a nice medium sized room which had a lot of light, just what I wanted. Communal toilets were cleaned every other day by cleaners which was great, however the kitchen did not have a table or sofas which made it difficult to socialise with flat mates. I was in a flat with 10 others.
