HSU is a great place to learn chiropractic! The tutors and staff are very helpful and want to help you learn the best you can. They start you with hands on learning from day 1 and continually teach you practical skills while developing your theoretical knowledge as well. Because the school is fairly small, all the different year groups know each other and it creates a very close knit society where friend groups often develop between years. There is overall a very good vibe and feel around HSU where everyone is interested in the same field of career, but also want to have fun and enjoy the student experience.
My experience at Health Sciences University (HSU) has been overwhelmingly positive, and I have loved my time as a student there so far! The university has excellent facilities which are continually being enhanced to give more opportunities for learning. These are available for use during all university opening hours, which is great for practising and additional study with friends when it comes to exam season. The same can be said for the library, which offers a wide range of resources, dedicated study spaces, and friendly, knowledgeable staff who are always willing to help with assignments and academic support. So far, all of my encounters with staff at HSU have been nothing but positive, and I feel thoroughly supported and individually known by them - this is great as I was previously worried about not knowing where to seek advice at university, but staff have made this easily accessible and have encouraged us to have regular contact with them. Lectures for the MChiro course are well balanced with a fairly even spread of contact time throughout the week. The content is interesting and engaging, and links together across units. This is incredibly helpful in making the knowledge feel cohesive, so we can apply it across all areas of our practice, including anatomy and physiology content in our practical and case-based seminars. Overall, the course can be challenging, but the university ensures you never feel out of your depth with the vast support they have to offer from student services to personal support tutors and 1-to-1 meetings that are available with lecturers. Another thing I have benefited from at HSU is the great sense of community that the university has to offer. As a smaller, specialised university, students get to integrate across courses in both professional and social settings, giving a great opportunity to work in multidisciplinary teams during placement years and meet friends with a variety of interests, yet all with the shared value of healthcare and a focus on helping people. I am so grateful for the amazing friends I have made at HSU, many of whom I met during society events and Wednesday social nights at the student bar. These friendships have become one of the most rewarding parts of my university experience! I would highly recommend HSU as a great university for anyone striving for a career in healthcare, with a focus on patient-centred care, and who wants a university experience where they feel valued and part of an impactful community. Not only will you gain great confidence in your abilities, but you will come away from HSU with friends for life and invaluable experiences from the working world, all preparing you for an ambitious future.
Studying the Chiropractic course has been an incredibly positive and rewarding experience. The course is well-structured and provides a strong balance between in-depth theoretical knowledge and hands-on practical skills, which is essential for developing confidence in clinical practice. The lecturers are highly knowledgeable, approachable, and genuinely passionate about chiropractic care. They create a supportive learning environment and are always willing to take the time to help students fully understand both the science and techniques behind treatment. The onsite chiropractic clinic during our placement year really stood out to me. It provided invaluable hands-on experience and gave me the opportunity to work with real patients in a supportive environment. This experience significantly built my confidence, improved my clinical skills, and helped me feel much more prepared for practice after graduating. The facilities are modern and well-equipped, especially the clinical spaces, which replicate real-world practice settings. The course also covers a broad range of subjects, including anatomy, biomechanics, neurology, and patient care, giving a comprehensive foundation for a career in chiropractic. Overall, I would highly recommend this course to anyone interested in pursuing chiropractic. It is challenging but extremely rewarding, and it truly prepares you for a successful career in healthcare.
Health Sciences (AECC) university is an amazing university. The lecturers are very knowledgeable and supportive, and there are plenty of opportunities for both academic and personal development. The facilities on campus are fantastic! It's in a wonderful location next to the beach + surrounding towns.
I’ve really enjoyed my experience at Health Sciences University so far. One of the best things about it is how supportive and close-knit the community feels. The lecturers, staff, and especially student services are all really approachable and genuinely want students to do well. So when the work load is quite heavy and overwhelming, they're always happy to help. There’s also a good social atmosphere with plenty of societies and sports teams to join, so it’s easy to get involved and meet people. The campus is also amazing to study in since it’s a beautiful Grade II listed building with loads of character. Overall a lovely place to study!

Honestly the biggest thing for me has been the support system throughout the course. Being on a radiotherapy degree can be really intense mentally and emotionally, especially during long placements, but I’ve always felt like there were people I could go to when I needed help or reassurance. Placement experiences have definitely been the most valuable part of my uni journey because they’ve helped me grow so much in confidence, communication, professionalism, and patient care. I feel a lot more work-ready now after being in real clinical environments and working with actual patients and MDT teams. The course itself prepares you well for the realities of working in healthcare and gives you opportunities to develop both practical and personal skills. At times the workload could feel quite intense, especially when balancing placements with assignments and revision, but that’s expected within a healthcare degree and the student services and course lecturers were there to help and support me every step of the way!

Overall, the experience as a student at AECC has been very poor. The institution is just another money hungry institution doing whatever they can to make a dollar while giving as little back to there students. Its no wonder a large portion of the teaching staff has quit after this year. I am ashamed of what this school has turned into and would never suggest any aspiring chiropractor attend this institution. The money we paid for this education compared to what we received has been horrendous. Last year (2020) students missed over 35 hours of practical class (a value of roughly 2000 pounds) without any compensation. Furthermore, Year 4 students were only offered a handful of practical classes to aid their learning through the clinical experience, many of which ended up being cancelled due to various scheduling errors.
This year has understandably been difficult because of covid however this was also the case last year and I felt that it was better dealt with in the previous academic year. This year has been really challenging as a student as I've felt that communication has been lacking most of the time I've been here. Myself and those around me have been confused about we're supposed to be doing and due to the lack of clear cut communication that is often left until the last minute lots of misinformation about what to do spreads around. I think the online learning this year has been practical in terms of meaning that you can catch up with lectures in your own time and can have more freedom. I think this should always be offered even with in-person lectures as it would be nice to have the choice or if you have to go off ill it would make catching up so much easier. I'm looking forward to my final year where I'll be doing more of what the job will entail at the end. It'll be a breath of fresh air that has been long awaited.
This is my second year. I did work experience 10 years ago at the collage and the rate this university is improving its facilities for students is unbelievable. As a student I think this is a really valuable course for the local area to.
Tutors are supportive This last year has been less so Loss of communication across the university body. Is apparent when talks with head of school, governing body and tutors Timetabling has always been an issue, release of timetables, release of results and receiving correct results The uni has changed a lot since the time I have started. How it is now is not what why I decided to go to this uni
Not amazing as covid has restricted everything but still better than nothing. More value for money than purely online but better than nothing at all. I feel that they could be more supportive of students but I imagine it's hard to when they are faced with so many changes according to what the government say we can and cannot do. Alot of restrictions are due to risk assessments so it makes sense
Its been hard. I think there are many things that need to be fixed and made more clear and easily available. Especially for foreign students like me. The beginning was hard now I think I'm getting used to living here and school

We were promised so much after merging the London and Bournemouth campuses. None of these promises were fulfilled, and the London campus seemed to lose out on a lot. The Bournemouth campus get trips abroad, 3 tickets to graduation and barbecues. The London campus get plinths to use as tables (because tables are prioritised for the business school), 2 tickets to graduation in the local church, and missed out on a careers fair.
Clinic was great - and the mixture of practical and theory classes were great. Would be amazing if we were given tables to write at instead of breaking our backs!
