This course is offered with a Foundation Year in Social SciencesThis foundation year is taught at the University giving you a taste of academic life in a supportive environment. The year gives you the academic and technical preparation for undergraduate study in a wide range of social sciences subjects. Lectures, labs and tutorials will give you a broad understanding across subjects including economics, criminology, sociology and psychology.
About this courseThis degree has your future career in mind. It enables you to take the first steps to becoming a chartered psychologist. Your studies will be supported by purpose-built research laboratories and psychological analysis equipment, including eye trackers, EEG (recording brain activity) and specialist neuropsychological and survey software.You can choose to study a range of topics such as schizophrenia, health and positive psychology, autism, cyberbullying and prejudice. There are also advanced modules on atypical development, neuropsychology, cognitive psychology, occupational psychology, critical social psychology, forensic psychology, psychotherapeutic psychology and the psychology of art.You'll be able to tailor your studies to suit your interests and ambitions. All students participate in original research projects and you'll be supported by research-active academics. Specialised work placements will give you direct work experience – much sought-after by graduate employers.
