Best aspects: * location, vibe and feel of university is really great * really good facilities - best SU of any university I've ever seen, variety of extra-curricular opportunities, stunning building, great library * good module choices and enthusiastic and helpful lecturers Improved: * very slow wifi speed in library that can affect people's work and in some cases of people I know, their online exams - not everyone has good wifi or a quiet place to study at home and has to rely on the library * some very condescending lecturers with unfair expectations that they put on students - majority of students have to work alongside uni to be able to afford it and aren't going to be able to do every single reading every week - not fair to be shamed for it * lack of assistance with technical issues - my department uses Canva to submit all assignments and several people have had issues with submission and received no help. Tech support did not reply till the following day and they were docked marks for late submission.

Best: * good range of module choices * interesting and engaging lectures *nice class sizes * good structure Worst: * online pre-recorded lectures that are clearly just an excuse not to come in and teach - very unengaging, no one wants to sit in front of a laptop like they're back in school during COVID. We don't mind if it's a once off but I had a lecture that was delivered entirely through pre-recorded online videos for the whole semester and very few people actually watched any of them. * lecturers making the tutorials and lectures very reading-focused instead of using sources to engage pupils. It puts pressure on students when some weeks they have too much work or family/personal issues to get all the readings done. * lack of internships or placements for HAPP students. There was no opportunity to do a placement module or careers-based module on my course . Also students who do a dissertation are frequently not able to apply for placements. Should be more of a focus on employability within the course. I have done internships and placements but I've sourced all of them myself. * very little engagement from personal tutors - one sentence replies to emails asking for help. One of my friends asked to set up a meeting and her tutor told her that he wasn't going to do anything for her and his role didn't mean anything. * very slow marking - assignments submitted in September and not marked till shortly before Christmas. Need feedback in order to complete end of term assignments * Vague essay feedback - tell students where they went wrong and why they got the mark they did * Clashing criteria for marking essays - have been criticised for certain things in some essays and then praised for the exact same things in others. Markers are very subjective and your mark depends a lot on their personal bias towards things like writing style which isn't fair for all the students in the class

Pros: * Elms BT9 is amazing accommodation - best layout and structure of any of Queen's accommodation that really allows for people to mix and socialise * really lovely and friendly security that look out for students * amazing staff at Treehouse Cons: * long time to respond to urgent maintenance requests - my sink leaked on numerous occasions and I had to wait up to two weeks for it to be fixed, had to put a towel in underneath to stop my room flooding * had a great experience in BT9 but I know several people in BT1 and BT2 who felt very lonely and isolated - very small flat layout and lack of social space or activities * university tends to place international students in a flat all together - better to have a mix of different nationalities in together to allow people to integrate * RA's not very present - we saw ours once, should visit the flat more and maybe meet people moving in to be a friendly face for people who feel lonely or isolated * should have proper recycling bins instead of paper bags * putting people who didn't ask to be in a no-alcohol or quiet living residence into one - it's not fair as it gives them a uni experience they didn't want and they feel left out * extremely strict and unfriendly, border line mean security in BT2 that make visitors to residents feel really intimidated

The online platforms are not very well made! The place is beautiful. Strikes have made classes non-existent. The university should help students and give better pay to TA

It is in person, but we haven’t had much class due to strike actions.

Location is good.
