Location and library is great. However, the cost of of items on campus, is too expensive. Additionally, student support, with regards to wellbeing, I don't think a six session access is viable. I believe the uni/uni psychologist should help with referrals or extended therapy.

The course requires specific books, which are not supplied by the uni, and unfortunately they aren't cheap either, they are £40+ for each textbook which each year you have to buy more, costs around £200 a year to have the course material, and there is no guidance on portfolio tasks, especially in Japanese studies. Also with online course materials, and PowerPoint, it's great access on blackboard/teams however for students who may not be as advanced on their studies, there should be access to English translations.

I stayed here in my first year and it was not bad for first year.

The course is great and the lecturers are friendly and very helpful when I have questions and queries. The campus is good and I love the library. The sports centre and gym are also amazing. I wish there was more social spaces such as a common room after the campus buildings close in the evening. However, there are so many sports clubs and societies to chose from to keep you busy.

The course is taught entirely face to face. For Japanese we have lectures and seminars. For Chinese we only have lectures but the lectures are split into different skills. E.g reading/writing and speaking/listening. When you have an issue outside of class, you can contact the lecturers via email and often get a quick reply.

It was really close to the library and laundry building. It was about a 15/20 minute walk from Derwent to Aldi. It was very safe and I felt comfortable walking to and from the library at night. The internet was only slow a few times out of the whole year. When we had an issue in the flat with something not working, the accommodation office was very easy to contact via the flat landline and they responded quickly to fix the issue.
