As a residential, day and domiciliary care manager or proprietor, sometimes called a care manager, you’ll hold a leadership position in a residential care environment and oversee its everyday working. In this role you’ll shape the activity and policy of a residential or care facility. You could be the director of a home with general responsibilities over it, or you might be one of several managers and focus on an area like human resources, finance or performance monitoring. You might support different groups, ranging from the elderly and infirm to individuals with additional needs.
You’ll work closely with other management staff and care workers, delivering a service of care that meets regulated legal and ethical standards. You’ll make sure that care workers follow policies and procedures, manage budgets, handle recruitment and training, and be accountable for health and safety. As a care manager you’ll rarely travel overseas in a professional capacity, as your responsibilities usually focus on a local establishment or regional group of facilities.
You may be able to complete parts of this role from home but it’s unlikely that your position will be entirely remote, as you’ll need to be on site.
