Overview
Wiltshire College & University Centre offers a wide variety of employability-focused degree courses. These are validated by some of the UK’s top universities such as Bournemouth and Oxford Brookes.

Courses cover areas like agriculture, life sciences, creative arts, teaching, engineering and business. Several courses can be studied on a part-time basis.
All courses are vocational where students learn on the ground through work experience and industry placements. As a result, 96% of graduates go onto employment, further study or training.
Spread across five campuses in Wiltshire, students have access to a range of specialist facilities in:

Teaching, learning and assessment.
Students are taught by lecturers who are highly qualified experts in their fields. Teaching takes place in inclusive environments that encourage self-directed investigation as well as guided learning. Each learner is assigned a tutor who provides extra academic support throughout the course.
Before they can graduate, all students must complete a work placement of at least two weeks. Placement staff assess performance and ensure that everyone gets the most out of their industry experiences.

Both the Salisbury and Lackham campuses have on-site student accommodation. Rooms are on offer to all students who wish to enjoy the unique college experience. The accommodation team ensures that the location is safe and secure. They host fun enrichment activities for all to get involved in.
Rooms and facilities
There are 80 student rooms on the Salisbury campus and 145 on the Lackham campus, with disabled units available. These feature a bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, desk and wifi. Some come with an en-suite bathroom that has a toilet, shower and washbasin. Price options include professional cleaning. Meal plans are also available.

Facilities
Each campus is packed full of specialist facilities that benefit students from different subject areas. For instance, the Castle Combe Centre is dedicated to motorsport engineering, with a seven-car workshop, engine and machine workshop, CAD engineering and 3D printers and a wind tunnel.
The Lackham campus, where land-based courses take place, is set among 1,600 acres of countryside. It features working farms and an animal centre with animals such as raccoons, chinchillas, snakes, birds, fish and much more.
The Salisbury campus underwent a £14 million redevelopment to refresh teaching facilities and expand its course offerings. It’s home to creative studios and suites, professional broadcast equipment, a student-run restaurant, darkrooms, 3D workshop areas, IT facilities, construction environments, motor vehicle workshops and more.

The Learning and Skills Development Service is dedicated to providing students with tailored academic support. This includes with writing, numeracy, planning, research, exam techniques and more. It helps students in areas such as:

Wiltshire College & University Centre’s academic strengths are reflected in the specialities of each campus. The Lackham campus, for example, is highly regarded for its agricultural and land-based study offerings, and the Castle Combe centre was the first trackside centre for motorsport engineering in the UK.
The College’s student union is active, inclusive and supportive. It’s made up of a team of elected student officers who work hard to ensure that the student voice is listened to. All students become part of the union when they join the college. They also have the opportunity to apply to be part of the team.

Clubs and Societies
Alongside their studies, students can enjoy the Wiltshire College Academy of Sport. No matter what level of ability they’re at, there is something for everyone – from team sports, individual activity and community games. Football, rugby and futsal academies provide opportunities for students to represent the college and compete in sports leagues.
City life
Wiltshire College & University Centre has five campus locations:
Chippenham – the campus is close to the town centre. It’s opposite the railway station, which offers excellent transport links locally, to London and other parts of the UK
Salisbury – the cathedral city is 30 miles from Bournemouth and has a lively city centre among beautiful English countryside
Lackham – based in Lackham House (near Chippenham), a Grade II listed Georgian manor house
Castle Combe – the centre is close to Chippenham as well as the M4 and Bath
Trowbridge – the campus is located a short drive to the busy and friendly Wiltshire town of Trowbridge.

All full-time courses at the College include invaluable work experiences. These ensure that students can develop their skills and industry knowledge to prepare for future careers. A dedicated placement officer supports students in finding suitable experiences, which could involve working with a local employer or on a community project, for example.
