The Vice-Chancellor's PhD Scholarships at UWL are three-year fully funded PhD scholarships. These scholarships are designed to fund innovative, rigorous, and impactful research. Key areas of research that UWL look to fund with the Vice-Chancellor's scholarship include those which address equality, diversity, and inclusion, as well as those that are interdisciplinary in nature.

Generally, the minimum entry requirements for postgraduate study:
• Honours degree from any university in the UK or Republic of Ireland
• Honours degree from an approved higher education institution outside the UK or Republic of Ireland
• Recognised equivalent professional qualification
• Industry experience equivalent to qualifications.

Students may be able to receive a conditional offer if they apply without an English test, however they will not be able to enrol until the English language requirement has been met. Applicants who need a Student Route Visa will have to meet all conditions outlined in their offer, including English language requirements, to request a Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) statement from UWL.

Currently, distance learning is only available in PgCert Professional Academic Practice at postgraduate level. However, a number of part-time courses are on offer, requiring attendance at the university once or twice a week, depending on the module of study. Flexible blended learning, part-time Saturday study and evening classes are also available for certain courses.
