When you have your exam results, call us and enquire about applying for your desired course. International and EU students can also apply. If you already have your exam results, and you do not have a place lined up at university, then you can contact us straight away via our Clearing Hotline. Our Admissions Team will be able to review your qualifications to advise which courses you are eligible for.

We aim to take the stress and confusion out of your Clearing journey to make it as positive and uncomplicated an experience as possible.

You will need to decide which course you would like to study at UWL. It is best to plan this in advance as some courses require you to attend an audition, submit a portfolio of work, or you may need to have relevant experience in your chosen field.

When you have your results, call us and enquire about your desired course. Popular courses can fill up very quickly, so we recommend that you contact us as soon as you can after receiving your results. If you already have your exam results, e.g. you have taken a gap year and you do not have a place lined up at university, then you can contact us straight away.

When you call during Clearing, the details you will need to provide are:

• Your exam results
• Your UCAS ID number (if you have one)
• The name of the courses you are interested in

We will want to know how you did in your A Levels, T Level or BTEC, or other equivalent Level 3 qualifications, as well as your GCSEs, but might also ask about your AS Levels and other achievements and qualifications to help our tutors get an idea of your background and experience while they fit you to the right course.

Of course, if you are not coming directly from education, it is important to share all work experience in order to help our Admissions Team build up an idea of what you can do and which courses will be a good fit for you. The team will then be able to review your qualifications and experience to advise which courses you are eligible for.

Our Clearing Team is here to guide you through your Clearing journey and is always happy to answer any questions you may have. We can help with information about studying with us, as well as information about fees, financial support and entry requirements.

Clearing is usually a fairly speedy process - in many cases we can give you a definitive answer about studying a course at UWL over the phone.

However, the process can take a little longer if you apply for certain courses. For example:

• Some music and performing arts courses will require you to audition or submit a portfolio of work.
• Some design courses will require you to submit a portfolio of work.
• Nursing, Midwifery and Operating Department Practice courses will require you to attend a selection interview.
• If you have non-standard qualifications or if you are applying for direct entry into Level 5 or 6 then your application may require academic review and will take a while longer to reach a decision.
• The process may also take slightly longer when our course tutors need to carry out an extra review of your application. This might happen if:
  • you do not have standard qualifications such as A levels, T Level or a BTEC Diploma
  • you have already completed some undergraduate-level study elsewhere and you are applying to join the second or third year of a course.
