There are three undergraduate student complexes around Sunderland, all within 1.5 miles of the centre of the city. These are:
Each of the halls are fully self-catered. This means that they have their own kitchen facilities, allowing students the opportunity to develop life skills and meet new people in shared environments. Rent includes all utility bills, high-speed internet access and personal possession insurance, while an on-site laundry room is shared amongst the halls.
Some rooms have shared bathroom facilities although many are en-suite for those who prefer their own space. Students can choose the size of room they require, with some offering picturesque river views.
The university continues to invest heavily in its facilities to ensure it meets the needs of students in the rapidly developing world. Some of the university’s cutting-edge facilities include:
The Sciences Complex is a dedicated facility with research and teaching laboratories. The complex is also home to the Living Lab which replicates real contemporary care environments.
The CitySpace multi-million pound sport and fitness facility is fully equipped with a gym, strength and conditioning room, climbing wall, injury prevention suite and sports hall.
The Reg Vardy Centre is home to the law facilities including a courtroom and moot court. The centre also houses the Law Clinic where students deal with real clients/cases under the supervision of a qualified solicitor.
At the David Puttnam Media Centre, students will be able to take advantage of fantastic facilities and professional equipment such as a 4K-UHD virtual studio, new studio lighting and a Spark Sunderland radio station.
