Glasgow is one of the UK's largest and liveliest cities. With the slogan ‘people make Glasgow', it's known for its warm welcome. A cultural hub, you'll find iconic museums, galleries, comedy clubs and theatres. You'll also find plenty of live music venues – it's been said that the city hosts music events on every day of the week! It also has a food scene that caters to every taste and budget, and a top nightlife scene.
Sport is massive in Glasgow: the city has one of the most famous football rivalries in the world, between clubs Rangers and Celtic.

4.1Strathclyde has over 1,500 rooms in university accommodation, including rooms with an en-suite or a standard room where you'll share a bathroom with other students. You can pay a bit more to get a standard room with a hand basin if you prefer. All accommodation is self-catered. Most rooms have single beds; standard en-suites have a ¾ double.
Priority is given to all undergraduate and postgraduate first years with an unconditional offer, as long as you apply by the accommodation deadline. If you live less than 25 miles from the uni, you're unlikely to get accommodation.
If you need to live elsewhere, you'll find plenty of purpose-built student accommodation in Glasgow to choose from, along with private rentals.
The campus village is a few minutes' walk from the main academic buildings, the library and sports centre, and pubs, cafes and shops.
Accommodation costs are between £129 and £175 per week, with contracts of 39 to 44 weeks for undergraduates. Your rent includes all utility bills, contents insurance, and Wi-Fi, making it easier to budget. It also includes free access to Strathclyde Sport.
You'll also benefit from 24/7 security, and an events programme helps students in halls make new friends.

The University of Strathclyde offers a range of scholarships and bursaries to help support students. If you meet the criteria, this extra funding will help you pay for your living costs or course expenses. Scholarships and bursaries don't need to be paid back.
If you're an undergraduate from England, Wales or Ireland (Northern Ireland or ROI), you may be eligible for a number of scholarships. Some will depend on your household income, others on your exam grades at A-level and/or subject of study.

Strathclyde offers hundreds of undergraduate degrees. You can choose from subjects in engineering, humanities, the social sciences, science, and business.

As is common at Scottish universities, most degrees take four years to complete.
Joint degrees are possible if you study a humanities, social sciences, or business degree. In your first year, you'll choose three from a range of subjects before continuing with two of these in your second year. In your third year, you can keep two subjects or narrow them down to one before completing your honours degree in your fourth year. If you finish with one subject, you'll gain a single honours degree – or with two, a joint honours.
It's also possible to gain a master's degree on some courses by studying for five years to gain an integrated master's.
Strathclyde's courses don't usually include an industrial placement year. Instead, placements are commonly taken over the summer or as a credit-bearing module. Studying abroad may be a core part of some degrees, or a short-term opportunity in others.
You'll mainly learn in lectures and tutorials. Depending on your course, you could also have student-led seminars, group projects, and lab work. Assessments may include essays, short reports, tests, group work, projects, or exams.
Strathclyde's teaching is in semesters. Each semester starts with a development week, followed by an 11-week teaching block and then an assessment period.
Fees for Scottish students are £1,820 (apply to SAAS to have these paid). For other students from the ‘rest of the UK' or RUK, they are £9,535 for most full-time degrees. The fees for international students will be more and vary by subject.
4.4Strath Union is the University of Strathclyde's Students' Union, which has been offering advice and guidance to the students at this uni since 1964. It also helps to organise various student societies and sports activities, as well as events throughout the year.
The Venue is the home of live music and events at the uni. Another Students' Union spot for students to relax in is The Terrace, which has a bar, pool, darts and even pizza – ideal!
