Living in halls in the first year is a popular choice for many students. The University of Salford offers two accommodation sites – Eddie Colman and John Lester Courts, and Peel Park Quarter – that are either on, or just a short walk from its campus.
At Eddie Colman and John Lester Courts, flats are located near the university’s Frederick Road site and within easy reach of MediaCityUK. Nursing, healthcare or media students won’t have to travel far between halls and classes. Facilities include internet access, a games room, several social areas, a free on-site gym and a library.
Over at Peel Park Quarter, there are over 1,000 en-suite bedrooms, each with a three-quarter size bed. These halls also feature a cinema room, free on-site gym, internet access, games room and plenty of social areas for residents to relax in.
For those who prefer to live in private accommodation, Manchester Student Homes list properties from accredited landlords in Salford and Manchester.
University of Salford students on Whatuni say:
“On campus accommodation is perfect, very good for new students like myself who have come from abroad.”
“Peel Park Quarter is good. It feels safe and you often see security wondering around. Any maintenance problems are usually sorted quickly.”
“I felt very comfortable and safe there.”
The university’s main library is located on Peel Park campus and is open 24 hours per day, 364 days per year. Here, students have access to thousands of books, journals and textbooks, as well as printing devices, computers and silent study areas. Course-specific libraries can be found at the university’s other two campuses.
The Students' Union hosts the Atmosphere Bar and Café, which is a great place for people to meet up, refresh and relax. The SU hosts regular events, such as quiz nights and live comedy, and provides many options for recreation with pool tables and several large TVs.
The university has a state-of-the-art sports centre, featuring a spa and sauna, plus fully-equipped gyms and even a 25-metre swimming pool. Salford has invested in industry-grade equipment, and students benefit from the opportunities to use flight simulators, wind tunnels, editing and TV studios, a 350 seat theatre, and much more.
