Scholarships/Bursaries

There are many funding opportunities for postgraduate students at ULIP to reduce the cost of studying. Firstly, there is a discount for alumni which is available to postgraduate students with a bachelor’s degree from QMUL. Eligible students will be awarded a £1,000 reduction in their tuition fees for a master’s programme at ULIP.

Each year, two students on the MA Urban History and Culture programme are awarded the University of London Scholarship. Both students will receive part or full coverage of tuition fees for each academic year of study. This award is based on academic ability.

The School of Law offers scholarships to students undertaking a law degree and Queen Mary offers bursaries and country-specific scholarships for international students. For more information, students should refer to the university website.

Students can also apply for external scholarships to fund their postgraduate course. For example, through research councils in your field of study.

Fees

Postgraduate fees vary for the MA in Urban History and Culture based on whether the student chooses a one-year full-time or two-year part-time programme.

For UK students, tuition fees start at around £5,000 a year for the part-time programmes and around £10,950 a year for full-time programmes. Tuition fees do vary per course so students must check the university website before applying.

For international students, tuition fees tend to be higher at around £20,000 a year for full-time programmes and £10,000 a year for part-time programmes.

As the UK is no longer a member of the EU, EU/EEA and Swiss students can no longer claim home-fee status. However, there are exceptions depending on the students’ circumstances. Students can check their eligibility here.
