Working together with the University of Lincoln’s Students’ Union (an independent organisation run by elected officers on behalf of students at Lincoln), the university offers an array of events, activities, and amenities designed to help students settle in to university life, meet friends, and make the most of their time at Lincoln.
Students can enjoy a range of virtual and on-campus events and activities throughout the year, including live music, comedy, quizzes, and fairs.
The Students’ Union (SU) operates several major on-campus venues which are popular hotspots for students during the day and at night. It includes one of the region’s largest live venues and has welcomed music acts such as Kaiser Chiefs, Kings of Leon, Kasabian, and Rudimental, as well as comedians including Sarah Millican, Romesh Ranganathan, and Katherine Ryan.
For students who may need help or support during their studies, the SU runs its own Advice Centre offering free, independent, and impartial advice on a range of topics, including academic, financial, housing, and welfare issues. The SU also engages in campaigns throughout the year, talking about important issues and raising awareness of BAME, LGBT+, women’s, disabled, and environmental issues.

One of the world’s great historic cities, Lincoln is renowned for its fusion of old and new. The winning combination of a vibrant city centre and a historic Cathedral Quarter, both offering a rich variety of attractions, activities, and amenities, makes Lincoln a fantastic place in which to live and study.
Just a short walk from campus, students will find a range of restaurants, cafes, and bars, and the city’s high street and side streets offer a mix of independent and boutique stores alongside national brands and chains.
Step back in time along the city’s famous cobbled Steep Hill, which provides the gateway to the city’s historic Cathedral Quarter and Bailgate area, where character-filled streets are lined with quirky shops and enticing eateries. The area is home to Lincoln Cathedral, one of Europe’s most celebrated medieval buildings and Lincoln Castle, which holds one of only four surviving originals of the 1215 Magna Carta.
Students living in Lincoln will find that they don’t need to travel very far to find the great outdoors. There are a number of parks and picturesque waterways within the city itself, while beautiful countryside and coastal landscapes are just a stone’s throw away. It is a great city for getting outside and active.
