Canterbury
Canterbury is a cathedral city full of culture and heritage. It has a good mix of medieval and modern - traditional cobbled streets, quirky shops and cafés plus great shopping with all the major high street names and some great restaurants. With three universities based in the city, there’s a great student atmosphere so there’s always something going on!
You can enjoy river tours, theatre trips, museums and shopping during the day, while plenty of traditional pubs, student bars and clubs are open until the early hours, holding a range of student events most week nights. The coastal town of Whitstable is nearby where you will find beaches, water sports, and a number of boutique shops. If you feel like exploring further, trains run regularly to London, which is just under an hour away on the high-speed service.
Medway
The Medway campus is a short walk away from a cinema and shops, while the Medway towns of Rochester, Chatham and Gillingham are home to a number of theatres, galleries, bars, pubs and restaurants and host some spectacular cultural festivals. There are also regular trips to London clubs and various day trips organised by the University and students’ union. For those who enjoy sports, there is an ice rink, ski slope, go karting park and indoor roller skating rink, while nearby country parks are perfect for walking and cycling in the warmer weather.
