Entry requirements vary from course to course. For most courses, however, a variety of Level 3 qualifications are accepted, including A-Levels, BTEC Diplomas, Access to Higher Education Diplomas, and Baccalaureate programmes. Students with a mix of these qualifications are also accepted (provided they meet a specified UCAS Tariff points score).
Here are some examples:
For those looking to study Biomedicine, 112 UCAS tariff points are required. This equates to BBC at A-Level, but one of those B grades must be in a relevant science subject. Alternatively, a DMM in the Applied Science BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma is also accepted, as long as it is accompanied by a science A-Level at grade C or above.
For those wanting to study Music, a minimum of 120 UCAS points will need to be attained, including a B at A-Level (or equivalent) in Music or Music Technology. Points from practical and theory music grades will also be accepted.
For those wishing to study Law at Huddersfield, 128 UCAS tariff points are required, which is ABB at A-Level or DDM in BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma.
For some courses, including Art and Design, Drama, Fashion and Textiles, Music, and some science-based courses, students may be required to attend an interview or an audition, or submit a portfolio of their work. This is so that the university can assess the student’s suitability for the course.
