The University of Greater Manchester has a rich history that began in 1825 when it was founded as a Mechanics' Institute. It continues to offer degrees that focus on practical skills and is proud of its strong emphasis on applied research. Many courses hold professional accreditation.

The University of Greater Manchester has one approved hall of residence, Orlando Village. This modern, purpose-built hall has more than 350 bedrooms in flats of up to six people. All flats are self-catered, with a shared kitchen. Rooms are graded bronze, silver, or gold.
Orlando Village also has on-site laundry, as well as some parking spaces.
If Orlando Village isn't for you, there are plenty of opportunities to rent privately in the town. The Students' Union and Student Services staff can look over any accommodation contracts you're given before you sign them and give advice.
If you choose to live at Orlando Village, you'll be just a 10-minute walk from the university. It's also close to bus and rail links.
Bronze rooms are from £139 per week, Silver from £169, and Gold from £199. All bills, including WiFi, are covered by your rent payments. Contracts are for 49 or 50 weeks.
You'll also benefit from 24/7 security and a common room with a TV and pool table to socialise with residents from other flats.

Bolton is just two stops from Manchester by train, and both the train and coach stations are close to the campus. The town can be accessed by the M60 and M61. It's also only 30 minutes from Manchester airport, making international travel straightforward.

A normal undergraduate degree usually takes three years to complete. Some degrees may include a placement year, giving you experience in industry before you graduate in your fourth year.
