UEL is one of few universities in London with on-campus accommodation. The Student Village is at Docklands campus, with Cyprus DLR station at its entrance running direct trains to Stratford. Plus, there are 24-hour buses connecting students to the rest of the city and a free university shuttle bus running to Stratford with a stop just outside the student village.
There are two halls of residence on campus including the east student halls and west student halls. East standard halls include Marley, Redbridge, Shepherd and Templars House costing £169 per week. These halls are right next to UEL’s SportsDock with views of the docklands. The west standard halls are located in Clare and Felix House, designed by the award-winning architect Edward Cullinan, costing £148 per week.
All rooms are ensuite, with standard rooms housing between four to seven students. There is also the option of a four person flat plus studio apartments. Both east and west halls also have wheelchair accessible accommodation.
Students can also choose to live in premium housing available in both the east and west halls. For example, a premium east standard flat includes a 54 square metre kitchen, almost double the east standard size, and a social area with sofas and a TV (TV license included). A room in this flat will cost £184 per week.
The Docklands campus holds a wide range of student facilities including a multimedia production centre with modern audio and visual studios. Students will also find the £21 million SportsDock centre complete with courts, a fitness centre and exercise classes. Plus, there is a library, bookshop, bar, cafes and student lounge.
The Stratford campus is close to Stratford’s buzzing town centre and the 2021 Olympic Park. It is also well connected to other parts of London with the West End being just 15 minutes away. Facilities include a campus restaurant, bookshop, cafe and bar. There is also a new library and learning centre with a range of study spaces for groups and individuals.
Both the Docklands and Stratford libraries are open daily from 8am-midnight with 24/7 access from 18 October to 17 December.
The University Square Stratford Campus is the base for students doing law, criminology, performing arts and dance, or MBA courses. There is a simulated courtroom for mooting experience, performing arts spaces, three performance studios and a 300-seat tiered lecture theatre. Plus, £2.5 million was recently invested into a new high tech bioscience lab.
