The university accepts a variety of qualifications and uses the UCAS Tariff. Each course will have typical entry requirements, shown as UCAS Tariff points. Students will also need to have GCSE Grade C in Maths and English. Some courses also have extra requirements such as DBS checks and skills tests.

ASK A QUESTIONAt the 2024 Global Student Living Awards, the University won ‘Best University Housing’ for the third year running and ‘Best Environmental Management’ for the second year running in the UK and Ireland, as voted for by students.
The University offers seven halls of residence, and all are conveniently located close to the city centre and to the teaching and learning spaces that are spread across Derby. All accommodation at the University of Derby is inclusive of bills, meaning students don’t need to worry about hidden extra costs.
All students who make the University of Derby their first choice and apply for accommodation by 31 July are guaranteed a room in halls of residence.

Some of the facilities include a dedicated film and television studio space, financial markets lab, replica Crown Court, architecture studio crime scene house for forensic training, and NHS-standard hospital ward and much more tailored to the wide range of courses.
The University is continuously investing in campus facilities, and will soon be adding a £14 million Bioscience Superlab and a £75 million Cavendish Building which will host Derby’s Business School.

Moving to university is a new and exciting chapter in students’ life, but it can also feel like a big and sometimes scary step – especially if this is the first time they are living away from home. Going to university is a real investment in students’ future. Students have two main costs to consider – tuition fees and living costs.
Tuition fees are the money paid for the course. These vary depending on if the student is full-time or part-time, and if they are a UK student or an international student.

You'll be shocked by the number of clubs and societies on offer at University of Derby. There's something for everyone! As well as being able to pick different clubs and societies, most courses let you choose modules at different points through your degree.
As well as personalising your course through optional modules, you may have the chance to do a work placement during your studies. Developing your professional skills through work placements is a great way to add to your CV and boost your employability.
If you want a job you love (and who doesn't?), getting a job in a field you're passionate about is a great place to start. By studying a subject you really enjoy, you'll be qualified for a range of jobs relating to that subject, which you'll hopefully love.
For those who aren't ready to give up on education after an undergraduate degree, you'll have the opportunity to progress to postgraduate study such as a master's or even a PhD.
