Chester Students’ Union (CSU) allows students to shape their university experience in a way that works for them and offers the opportunity to make a difference, make new friends and lots of amazing memories.
The Students' Union represents the views and opinions of its members and is committed to making positive changes to the university experience.
It also hosts a range of events and projects that celebrate and promote liberation, equality, diversity and inclusion, and believes that change in the University should be led by the students.
CSU’s Advice Centre offers free, confidential and impartial help from professional advisers, so students can rest assured that help will always be on hand for any personal or academic issue they might have.
Chester Students’ Union and the Athletics Union have over 100 different sports clubs and special interest societies for new students to get involved in. With friendly and approachable representatives who enthusiastically welcome new members of all levels and abilities, there’s truly something for everyone.

The Chester Students’ Union and the Athletics Union organise over 100 different sports and societies for students to join throughout each academic year. Students can meet new and like-minded people, explore a new interest, and potentially adopt a position of leadership and responsibility in a sports team or society.
Students who are passionate about sport will be pleased to learn that all of the University’s first teams compete annually in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) leagues. As a result, students will have plenty of options to engage in competitive sport and to compete with other sporting communities from across the country.
The University also encourages students to set up new sports clubs and societies where they do not already exist and offers organisational support to get things started.

Chester has once again been awarded the coveted ‘Purple Flag’ status which recognises excellence in managing the night-time economy. There are many pubs, quirky bars, clubs and venues to choose from.
Students in Warrington are spoilt for choice when it comes to shopping and leisure complexes, restaurants, and arts and entertainment venues.
Students at Shrewsbury can explore this wonderful medieval town and walk its beautiful, cobbled streets, which are home to a thriving independent scene and vibrant arts community, with cafés, restaurants and nightlife.
