The University of Chester’s wide range of accommodation options means that all first years who make Chester their Firm choice through UCAS are guaranteed a place to live.
There’s accommodation for all budgets including both en-suite and standard bedrooms, various catering choices and adapted rooms for students with specific physical needs.
For student commuters, the University offers convenient and affordable 'Airbnb-style' housing options designed for short stays.
Students living in University-owned accommodation benefit from 24-hour security and maintenance, a regular cleaning service and high-speed internet.
The University also works with private providers of student accommodation to offer private sector flats, houses and registered lodgings.
University of Chester students on Whatuni say:
“Reasonably good accommodation, with the occasional struggle and issue, although most of such minor issues are to be expected when living with others and is outside anyone’s control. I do appreciate how much accommodation is available in Chester, I know some cities have very competitive housing and that you essentially have to rush your decision simply to secure a home. This is not the case in Chester.”
“There is a very short distance between the accommodation and other areas of the campus.”
“The location is great, it is just a 2-minute walk from campus and 20 minutes from the city centre, the cost is very feasible as well.”
Students at the University will always have access to free, fast internet and IT services. Most University of Chester sites have dedicated libraries with thousands of books, journals, and digital resources as well as access to study spaces and IT suites.
Sport and fitness options around the University sites offer students a great way to boost their mental and social wellbeing, and the University’s range of world-class sports facilities encourage students to learn new skills and develop themselves physically. Facilities include a fully equipped fitness suite and gymnasium, outdoor tennis courts, all-weather sprint track and grass pitches, a 25m swimming pool, and indoor sports hall with squash courts.
The University has a selection of food and drinks vendors such as a self-service brasserie, a vegetarian bar, a gourmet burger bar and the main Students’ Union bar at Exton Park, as well as a selection of coffee shops and cafés at all sites. The University also provides open access inter-faith spaces and quiet rooms for prayer and silent reflection.
University of Chester students on Whatuni say:
“The swimming pool was good and everything was decently clean.”
“Although my campus is small, the University offers a gym, library, PC spaces and student lounge.”
“The facilities are clean and all staff are friendly and extremely helpful.”
