The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) is an international university that offers students progressive, modern learning pathways at undergraduate level. Courses at the University of Central Lancashire are split across the university’s 10 academic schools. Undergraduate qualifications are offered across a wide range of subjects, including accounting and finance; art, design, and fashion; biological sciences; education; engineering; health professions; law; mathematics; social sciences; and sport and exercise sciences.
The university offers many courses on a foundation entry basis, which involves an introductory year during which students are equipped with the skills needed for degree-level study. These courses are ideal for students who do not meet the criteria for direct entry onto their chosen honour’s degree. A growing number of courses also have multiple intakes per year, in both September and again in January or March.

GET PROSPECTUSEntry requirements for undergraduate courses at the University of Central Lancashire vary on a course-by-course basis. Students will typically require 96-112 UCAS points to get a place on a course, but entry requirements can be as high as 140 points for select courses. Some UCAS point requirements are also subject specific for certain course pathways.
In general, applicants will be able to use their A Level, BTEC Extended Diploma, Access Course, or International Baccalaureate certificates to meet the minimum qualification requirements for undergraduate courses at UCLan. Students will also need to demonstrate that they have attained a grade C/4 or more across five GCSEs. Alternative international equivalents are accepted by UCLan, and the university’s helpful admissions team are on hand to help prospective students with any queries pertaining to the application process.
Students who do not meet the minimum entry requirements for their preferred undergraduate course have the option to apply for a foundation entry programme, which will have lower entrance criteria. ASK A QUESTIONUCLan offers a wide range of housing options for undergraduate students. There are six halls of residence buildings in Preston, in addition to one in Burnley and one in Westlakes. All halls are located within a short distance of their respective campuses. Placement in halls is guaranteed for all first-year students. All accommodation is within walking distance of campus and all fees are inclusive of Wi-Fi and utilities. Prices for accommodation in Preston, Burnley and Westlakes range from £83.09 to £129.99 GBP per week, depending on location and style.
UCLan has spent £200 million on developing its Preston campus in recent years. New state-of-the-art facilities include a student centre at the heart of campus, with an array of academic, wellbeing and social spaces. The university also has a new Engineering Innovation Centre. This innovative facility provides students with an integrated space for teaching, research, and collaborative industry partnerships where they can work on live projects with professional partners.

The university’s dedicated support teams are there to help with every aspect of student life. They are always ready to guide, advise and encourage students on their journey to success. There are a range of health and wellbeing support services, including a counselling service which is adapted to suit individual student needs, and a medical centre and pharmacy on campus.
