What is Clearing and when does it begin?

Clearing matches applicants to courses that still have places available. Places are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Clearing officially opens on 5 July. The full list of courses and universities taking part is confirmed after exam results are released in August.

Did you know?

• You don't have to wait until results day to secure your university place.
• You can apply for a course after the main UCAS application deadline in January.
• You can apply for a course in Clearing up until the course starts, if there are still spaces available.

Applying through Clearing early can be less stressful. You'll be able to thoroughly research universities and courses to make sure you're certain about your decision.
