The university’s School of Engineering is known for research excellence in areas such as biofuels and pharmaceutical manufacturing. The school boasts world-leading research and teaching facilities which have recently benefitted from an £8 million renovation, and strong industry links - working with national and international businesses and organisations such as NASA, Bosch, Mitsubishi, Cisco Systems, GSK, and Shell.
Aberdeen’s Business School is home to over 80 research-active members, whose work has been internationally recognised for its excellence. The school was ranked 2nd in the UK for Impact Case Studies in the REF 2014 and in the top five for UK graduate employment (HESA 2016).
The school was also ranked 4th in the UK for Accounting and Finance and 11th for Business Management Studies in the Complete University Guide 2021.
Biological and Environmental Sciences
Aberdeen is internationally renowned for its exceptional research and teaching in areas such as marine biology, ecology, and zoology. In the REF 2014, 100% of the schools research was judged as 4* world-leading and 3* internationally excellent, placing it as one of the top UK institutes for research in biological and environmental sciences. The school currently holds over £25 million of active research grants.
