Student life

UCL Students’ Union helps all members of the student community make the most of their time at university. It hosts more than 320 clubs and societies and is home to several bars, shops and cafes. 

The students’ union strives to improve the lives of all UCL students by representing and advising them, offering support, fostering connections and organising activities and events. It is managed by elected officers who act as the student's voice. Union officers work hard to improve the way the university is run. 

The Postgraduate Students’ Association is dedicated to graduate students, providing them with many services such as social amenities and sports facilities.

The students’ union at UCL offers students more than 300 clubs and societies, offering many opportunities to try something new or enjoy hobbies and interests with like-minded students. 

There is a huge selection of sports clubs at UCL, and many have world-class university facilities in which to train, offering opportunities to compete with other universities around London and the UK. Sports clubs include football, hockey, martial arts, horse riding, ice skating, mountaineering, tennis, rowing and yoga. 

Societies cover a broad range of categories including course-related research groups, languages, cultures, beliefs and hobbies. Some examples of active societies include the debate society, abacus society, Kurdish society, mental health society and drama society.
