University Centre Reaseheath offers a great social environment with lots of activities to get involved in outside of lectures.
Reaseheath’s Student Association represents all University Centre Reaseheath students, and ultimately acts as their voice in a range of ways. The Student Association is there to ensure that each students’ experience is as positive and enjoyable as possible. Based in the student social area, the Student Association is made up of current students from different courses. There are a number of roles within the association including President, RAG Chair, College and Academic Board Reps, Health and Safety Reps, Sports Reps and more.
The Student Association also organises a lively programme of social events including the popular Thursday Night Social event, karaoke and live bands as well as exciting off-site activities such as bowling, go-karting and cinema visits.
In addition, students can relax in the student social area and bar. This is located in the centre of campus and has pool tables, table tennis and large screen TVs.
The RAG (raising and giving) society is also an integral part of student life. This society has raised over £280,000 for nominated charities since it began in 1987. Each year students are asked to select a charity to raise funds for through socials, raft races, helping at community events and much more. This year’s chosen charity is Make A Wish UK.
There are lots of clubs and societies to join at University Centre Reaseheath, which allow students to take up a new sport, meet like-minded people or try something new. There's something to suit most interests, but if not students can always form their own too!
Just a few of the clubs include:
Set in a stunning rural location in Nantwich, Reaseheath is based in the heart of Cheshire.
A medieval market town with a contemporary edge, Nantwich is an attractive town with numerous shops, cafés and restaurants. And once lectures are over, Nantwich offers a great night out for students, with plenty of pubs and nightclubs hosting regular student nights.
There are also some great places to visit nearby including Chester Zoo, Oulton Park race circuit, Go Ape at Delamere Forest and Alton Towers.
Transport links for Nantwich are excellent with the nearby M6 motorway, Crewe railway station and a bus and train station in Nantwich. Liverpool John Lennon Airport, Liverpool Ferry Port and Manchester Airport are approximately an hour’s journey from the campus.
The nearby cities of Chester, Liverpool and Manchester all offer great days and fun nights out too. Spend a day in Chester at the races, hire a rowing boat on the River Dee or walk the famous City Walls. Liverpool is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with more listed buildings, museums and galleries than any other city outside of London. Renowned for its football and music, Manchester offers something for every taste, from live music and sports, theatres and art to shopping.
There’s loads to see and do in the great outdoors too and the campus location provides excellent opportunities for a wide variety of outdoor pursuits. For real adventure and beautiful scenery, North Wales, the Peak District and Lake District are all within easy travelling distance with plenty of opportunities for walkers, mountain bikers, horse riders, water sports enthusiasts and rock climbers.
