Courses and lecturers

The university is a research driven institution that ranked in the UK’s Top 30 in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework League Table.

Students praise the enthusiasm and support of their lecturers, and the knowledge and expertise they are able to bring to the course curriculum and delivery.

The university’s online resources and accessibility of course material is of a very high standard, and has been recognised in the university’s success at the 2019 Whatuni Student Choice Awards, where it ranked 3rd for Courses and Lecturers.

Swansea University students on Whatuni say:

“Due to the current situation, we are working on a 1 week in, 1 week out schedule. During the online learning weeks, we are guided as to which online lectures we should engage with to begin to learn the theory behind the topic. Some of these lectures are pre-recorded and some are live. During the weeks on site, we have a mix of lectures and workshops where we go over example questions and hold class discussions to enhance understanding.”

"Having come from engineering originally I was at first skeptical about the flipped content that the course director was implementing, but I was made a believer when I saw that it enabled us to learn about a topic then do more advanced applications of it showing that we could really grasp the content and get help in class with stuff we needed help understanding rather than struggling to learn the topic in class and getting stuck on questions with no support later on.”

"The lecturers all have office hours each week and are actually very happy when you use them! I find it helps too as you get to know them a little bit more and then you enjoy the lectures more and pay attention.“
