What is Clearing?

Clearing is your opportunity to secure a place at university outside of the main application cycle. There are many reasons that prospective students choose this route, for example:

• You've changed your mind about the university at which you wish to study
• You want to change to another course
• You haven't quite achieved the grades you were expecting
• You have achieved better grades than expected
• You haven't applied to go to university but you've decided that you want to go in September

Clearing opens on 2nd July 2026 and you'll be eligible to apply if you are not holding any offers at that point. You can also apply if you do not hold a place after your exam results are published.

Whatever your situation, Clearing can be an opportunity to secure a university place that is just right for you! Your bright future starts at Swansea.

Am I eligible for clearing?

You'll be eligible for Clearing if:

• You apply after July 5^th
• You are not holding any offers from universities or colleges that you've already applied to

Your place is not confirmed after the exam results are published.

Your Next Steps:

1. Arrange your Clearing offer for the subject that suits you best – don't forget, you usually have to make a decision on any offers within 24 hours to secure your place, or you may be released back into the Clearing pool
2. To accept an offer, head to UCAS Track, where you can ‘Add a Clearing Option' and enter your new choice
3. Come and visit us at one of our dedicated Clearing Open Days – we'd love to show you around our beautiful beachfront campuses!
4. Update your Student Finance application (if you already have one), to include your new university choice, or make a new application if you've only just started your university journey
5. Apply for accommodation – be mindful that you will have to apply by August 19th to secure on-campus accommodation with Swansea University

When Does Clearing Close?

This depends on each institution and whether they still have places available, but the official date for UCAS is October 20th 2026.

If you haven't received or accepted any offers by this date, you can still get in touch with your new university choice to see if they can accept late applicants.
