The University Centre South Essex understands that education is an invaluable life opportunity and one that everybody should be able to access. However, it also appreciates that there are times during which prospective or existing students may be faced with unanticipated financial difficulties or hardships. As a result, the university offers support via the Higher Education Support Fund.
The funds paid out through the support fund do not need to be repaid, but the fund cannot be used to pay costs associated with tuition. Receipt of the HE Support Fund is dependent on an assessment of the student’s financial needs and their situation within a priority group classification. Other eligibility criteria for the fund include:
Programmes at the University Centre South Essex are designed to be competitively priced and offer outstanding value for money. Students at the university will be able to save up to £10,000 by choosing to study here compared to other higher education institutions around the UK.
The amount and type of financial support offered to students at the university centre will vary according to the programme chosen and whether it is a full-time or part-time course pattern. The funding support will also vary according to whether the student is classed a home, EU or an international student.
Student Finance England is able to offer Tuition Fee and Living Cost loans to students who are studying their first undergraduate degree. This loan for tuition fees is made payable directly to the university centre from SFE and fully covers the costs associated with the course of study. There is also a living cost loan available for all students that is typically paid out across three instalments directly into a student’s nominated bank account to assist them in covering their living costs. These might include day-to-day expenses such as food, accommodation, and study materials.
