Postgraduate students can live in one of Sheffield Hallam’s halls of residence.
Where possible, students will be placed in flats with other postgraduate or mature students. The cost of living in Sheffield is low compared to other UK cities, and Hallam has some of the best value student accommodation in the country.
All university accommodation is within walking distance to both campuses. Students are guaranteed accommodation and offered one of their choices if their application is received before August.
All halls are furnished with a bed, wardrobe, desk or workstation and a chair.
There’s also the option to live in private sector accommodation, particularly if students want to live with their partner or family. Whatever a student’s needs, Sheffield Hallam offers a free service to help all of its students find the right accommodation.
“Maintenance was prompt, using an app to report any faults. Kitchen was in good condition and bathroom too. Location was perfect, out the way of the city, with a good view. There was on street car parking available.”
“In our accommodation we have all necessary facilities: laundry, free printing, gym, study area, TV, table tennis etc. I highly recommend student accommodations to other people also because it is a good opportunity to meet a lot of students from all over the world.”
Over £100 million has been invested in new facilities over the last five years. This means students have access to new, innovative, and flexible spaces to study and relax in- making their student experience even better.
With new facilities, students are able to learn with the same equipment used in real world workplaces, whether that’s learning in the mock law court, hospital theatre, design studios or engineering labs.
The Hertha Ayrton Centre is an £11 million facility for STEM students with cutting edge robotics, automotive and electrical laboratories.
A new sport and exercise medicine research facility has also been redeveloped with a brand-new teaching and education teaching centre, in addition to launching an Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre.
There is also food and drink outlets, a nursery for childcare, a print shop, a comprehensive range of sports and fitness facilities, plus libraries which include study spaces and resources which are available 24-hours a day.
“The facilities of my Uni have exceeded my expectations.”
“All university's facilities are really good, mostly new and modern.”
“Outstanding libraries on both campus', clean buildings with plenty of toilets, cafes and equipment to take advantage of. Lots of hotspots for students to work from and socialise at. Student union had a bar.”
