Live at the heart of uni life
All Sheffield Hallam’s halls are in popular student areas near both campuses. Most are less than 10 minutes’ walk away from campus, and never more than 30 minutes.
Something for everyone
The university hosts more than 14 different halls of residences for students and ensures that all budgets and tastes are catered for. These halls span from quiet and friendly smaller halls, up to larger and more sociable halls. Whatever type of home a student is looking for, there is something for everyone.
No nasty surprises
All rent includes bills, insurance, and internet, so students know exactly what they’re spending and won’t be hit by a massive bill at the end of the month.
24/7 support
Every hall of residence benefits from a connection to support staff who are accessible 24/7. These teams are committed to assisting students with any problems and ensuring that student safety is priority number one.

Sheffield Hallam University is spread between two campuses. The university’s City Campus is in the centre of Sheffield, a short walk from key bus and train stations. The university’s Collegiate Campus is set amongst the leafy avenues of Ecclesall Road, which offers a mix of independent shops, pubs, restaurants, and parks.
Both campuses feature libraries that are open 24/7, student-designed study areas, and opportunities to learn on industry-standard equipment that simulates workspaces from aeroplane manufacturers to hospitals.
The university has invested more than £100m into buildings and facilities over the past five years. This has provided innovative, sustainable, and flexible environments that enrich the learning experience. In 2017, it opened the Hertha Ayrton STEM Centre, an £11m facility for science, technology, engineering, and maths students. This was along with the £14m Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre, a national hub for sport and exercise medicine.
It also opened a £9m home for Sheffield Institute of Arts, which is based in the city’s old Head Post Office, a Grade II listed building.
Specialist facilities include:
Sheffield Hallam are continuing to improve teaching and learning facilities, with designs for new buildings to include the latest sustainable energy solutions and measures to make them zero carbon ready. A new 'university green' public space is also proposed.
